Our Programs

DEI Wellness Check-in Sessions

The Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging is offering virtual wellness check-ins for students, staff, and faculty at Alliant International University. These wellness check-in sessions will provide participants with an opportunity to speak with a trained, and non-judgmental listener in a group setting. The goal is to provide a safe space and a community healing circle to unpack any toxic and negative energy that is consuming our lives and any stress that is impacting us while we are carrying out our responsibilities at Alliant. These sessions will be held twice a semester for students, and twice a semester for faculty and staff.

Alliant Faculty and Staff Affinity Groups

This initiative will help connect Alliant faculty and staff with individuals who share common interests or backgrounds. Faculty and staff affinity groups are designed to build an inclusive environment for Alliant employees who are from historically underrepresented and underserved backgrounds. Affinity groups are established and operated by employees with modest financial support from the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Allies are welcomed and encouraged to also participate in an Affinity group. Some of the benefits of Faculty & Staff Affinity Groups for Alliant employees include but are not limited to:

  • Network and engage in dialogue with other faculty and staff with common interests and goals.
  • Develop new skills, enabling faculty and staff to learn, grow and achieve.
  • Play a role in initiatives that positively affect faculty and staff throughout the organization.
  • Become more involved in our surrounding communities.
  • Foster a creative, innovative work atmosphere.
  • Improve communication and inclusion across the institution.

To enrich the personal experiences and interpersonal interactions of each participant, our cohort will consist of 15 students per semester.

Alliant Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Training Program (Faculty & Staff)

The Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging in partnership with Human Resources developed the Alliant Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Training Program. This program is designed to help participants develop the necessary tools and resources to better serve the diverse members of our campus community. The program is open to all Alliant staff, and faculty, regardless of job classification. This program’s vision is to enhance and promote the appreciation of cultural diversity and foster intercultural and cross-cultural understanding. To enrich the personal experiences and interpersonal interactions of each participant, our cohort will consist of 25 participants per semester. Our main objective through this program is:

  • Increase employee self-awareness and foundational knowledge of dimensions and dynamics of diversity (power and privilege, systems and structures, cultural humility, institutional inequity, etc.)
  • Improve individual commitment to diversity by establishing and sustaining a culture of accountability around diversity initiatives, best practices, and campus-wide policies.
  • Enhance the collaboration and engagement between stakeholders to enhance their ability to apply diversity, equity, and inclusion practices to help sustain our commitment to institutional equity.
  • Provide training materials to create actionable change to enhance student and employee capacity as allies and workplace advocates for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)

Alliant International University Community Collaborative Equity Fellows (CCEF)

Alliant International University in partnership with the Alliant Education Foundation has established the Community Collaborative Equity Fellows (CCEF). This fellowship is an opportunity for 4 community scholars to join the Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging for an academic year as an Equity Fellow. The fellowship is designed for individuals who are experienced leaders, academic researchers, policy advocates, and educational practitioners who are committed to creating a more socially just society by breaking down systemic barriers to bridge the opportunity and achievement gaps of underserved and underrepresented communities. Equity Fellows will build leadership, collaboration, and problem-solving skills as they develop and implement strategic initiatives and programs that cultivate a more diverse and equitable community. The Fellowship will offer four distinct grants to support individual initiatives focused on reducing racial and socioeconomic inequality in underserved and under-represented communities. A total of four 1-year grants of $10,000 will be awarded. Program Info: 4 fellows for the academic year (fall & spring).
