This webinar is designed to recognize, celebrate, and honor the contributions of San Diego’s and regional Hispanic American Civic and Community Leaders. Panelist will be sharing their inspirational stories and discussing the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for our Hispanic American/Latinx communities.

Ramadan On Campus, Higher Education Webinar on Best Practices to Support Muslim Students
Alliant International University and Oregon State University hosted a free webinar for higher education institutions to better assist them in supporting students, and their experiences on campus during Ramadan. Participants gained an understanding of the significance of Ramadan, Understand the socio-political climate for Muslims in higher education, Explored Higher education institutions’ commitment to expanding inclusive initiatives by adding Halal Food options, and attained practical tools to support Muslim students during Ramadan and beyond.

International Student Support: Meet the Experts
Alliant International University and Vatel USA have partnered to host an International Student Support Service Session. This session brought experts both internal and external to show how Alliant supports international students through its various programs, services, and its commitment to connecting students with local resources, along with creating a safe space on our campus community. This program particularly focused on International Students from Asia.

Unpacking Domestic Extremism: Combating Targeted Violence and Hate against Asian American Community
Alliant International University has partnered with ABC 10 News San Diego for a free webinar on combating hate and targeted violence against our Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) communities. The webinar consisted of two sessions, training on hate crime from the San Diego Anti-Hate Crimes Coalition, followed by a community conversation panel discussion.

Unpacking Domestic Extremism: Developing Resiliency Post Insurrection
The Alliant International University in partnership with the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice has hosted a free webinar that examined the current approaches to confronting the threat of violent extremism and domestic terrorism to inform future policy and response measures. This webinar brought leaders together from higher education, law enforcement, elected officials, and policymakers to educate our campus community and the larger community about the dangers of these threats to create awareness and build a more resilient campus community while advancing our commitment to inclusive excellence.
